I come from a family of entrepreneurs. Growing up, I always knew I wanted to own my own business, and that dream became a reality in 2022.

I’m not just a yes man. As an active real estate investor, I can give you suggestions to increase your home’s value if you choose to sell it one day.

I’ve built relationships with contractors and realtors, so I can quickly find a trusted resource for whatever you need.

I love old Ford trucks, hot sauce, soccer, mini Highland cows, Moscow Mules, skiing, lifting weights, chicken, Adam Sandler movies, cedar, and the smell of freshly cut grass.

The job called for precision at every turn. Boards had to be scribed to fit perfectly around the HVAC system's piping, and much of the work took place high above the ground, up at the peaks of the building. It's the kind of detail that earned Alex the nickname "wood magician" from the client.

Midway through the project, the client decided to add security cameras to the exterior, which meant going back through the completed car siding to dado out grooves in the back of select boards so the camera wiring could run cleanly and stay hidden from view.

The relationship didn't end with the original scope. We were called back again and again for additional work: custom shutters, an outdoor ceremony arch, shelving, and benches, each piece built to match the same standard of craftsmanship as the rest of the venue.

Shiplap Remodel

Scope of work: Exterior Window & Door Replacement (35-40 units) · Full Re-siding · Interior Shiplap · Solid-core Interior Doors · Trim

By the time we were finished, we had installed roughly 35 to 40 new windows and doors and resided the majority of the house. The owner had a vision for shiplap walls throughout the interior, and with a background in finish carpentry, we knew exactly how to bring it to life the right way.

Shiplap is easy to rush and hard to get right. Most crews will rough-cut a stack of boards, slap them up, cover the gaps with trim, and caulk over the mistakes. We took a different approach. Every single board was cut with purpose, ensuring tight corners and a clean look in every room, inside corners included, which are notoriously difficult to get right. We started at the bottom of each wall with a laser level and worked our way up, so the lines stayed true no matter which room you walked into.

Once the shiplap was complete, we set all new solid-core interior doors throughout the house and finished the trim to match.

This project started small, a call to replace a few windows, and grew into a top-to-bottom exterior and interior transformation.

The client was so pleased with the results, he told Alex he'd be welcome to come do the same kind of work at his house in Georgia.

This home wasn’t someone else’s dream: it was mine. I’d always wanted to transform a grain bin or shipping containers into an AirBnb.

First, I found the perfect land for a rental property. It was 90 minutes from Omaha or Kansas City, and had a secluded lake and nearby trails. There was land nearby that someone could stay on a camper.

Next, I moved a 24-foot grain bin from northern Nebraska to Missouri by tearing it apart, moving it on trailers piece by piece, then reassembling.

CHALLENGE 1: CURVES

Most carpentry jobs involve straight lines, but the grain bin was a cylinder.

This meant I had figure out how to cut curved wall plates for framing and curve wood to make it a circle for the ceiling.

I also used this same secret formula (calculating the circumference) to build a curved staircase, vaulted ceiling, and cantilever deck. My thoughtful process and planning made it work.

CHALLENGE 2: Layout

With only a 24-foot diameter and a 20-foot side wall before it vaulted up, another challenge was making the small space functional.

Papillion Home Remodel

Scope of work: Full Gut Renovation · Kitchen Redesign · Home Office Build-out · Custom French Doors & Shiplap · Entryway & Lighting Upgrades · Deck Rebuild · Stair Relocation · Garage Upgrade · Basement Bar · Limestone Retaining Wall

We gutted the house, tearing out the old deck, kitchen, flooring, and trim entirely. From there, we rebuilt with purpose. New lighting and plumbing fixtures went in throughout, and the kitchen was redesigned with a layout that actually makes sense for how people live today, including a new breakfast and coffee nook. What used to be wasted square footage became a functional home office.

Custom 8-foot glass French doors now open into a striking shiplap accent wall, and the entryway greets you with a grand new chandelier and updated railing and spindles, all framed by an abundance of natural light and views out over the golf course.

Outside, we went big. The deck was rebuilt with a two-tone, double-border picture-frame design, and we relocated the stairs to land on a new concrete pad, replacing an awkward layout that once forced a walk around the side yard. In the garage, epoxy flooring and hexagon lighting create a showroom feel for the car enthusiast. In the basement, a well-appointed bar gives golfers a place to bring friends after a round. And out back, we tore out the old tie wall and replaced it with a large, angled limestone wall that opens up the whole backyard.

This home came to us in rough shape, neglected, outdated, and far from reaching its potential. The vision was to turn it into one of the nicest properties in the area, and that meant starting nearly from scratch.

The result: a home that increased in value by more than $250,000, and a space that works for exactly the kind of buyer or homeowner who'll actually enjoy living in it.
